去梅溪湖大剧院之前，我们在郴州待了几天。

Before heading to the Meixi Lake Grand Theater, we spent a few days in Chenzhou.

排练厅里，刘婕正在反复练同一个动作——从一丈高的台子上后翻下来。一遍，又一遍。

团里的老师傅带着年轻人练刀枪，走位，换位，再走位。

Veteran performers guide the younger ones through weapon routines -- stepping, shifting, and repeating.

3月18日，由湖南省昆剧团演绎的《雷峰塔》在长沙梅溪湖大剧院上演。

On March 18, Leifeng Pagoda, performed by the Hunan Kunqu Opera Troupe, was staged at the Meixi Lake Grand Theater in Changsha.

这出戏，他们准备了近一年。

They spent nearly a year preparing for this production.

团里平均年龄41岁。在昆曲行当，尤其是武戏，这个年纪已经是“老将”了。但《雷峰塔》的台柱子，还是这批40多岁的人。他们还托举着一群00后的孩子。

The troupe's average age is 41. In Kunqu -- especially in martial roles -- that already makes them veterans. Yet the backbone of Leifeng Pagoda is still this group in their forties. And they are lifting up a new generation -- performers born in the 2000s.

六百年湘昆，他们凭着一腔热血，让传统戏曲依旧昂扬，依旧“燃”。

For six hundred years, Hunan Kunqu has endured -- driven by passion, it keeps traditional opera vibrant and alive.
