One-Armed Mother Repays Son's Debts as Countless Loving Hearts Rally to Help

这位独臂老人叫黄玉香，今年69岁。2025年12月底，她紧紧攥着两张旧钞，等待着常校长。她的身影在冬日的校园外显得格外单薄。

This 69-year-old woman with one arm is Huang Yuxiang. At the end of December 2025, she waited for Headmaster Chang, clutching two old bills. Her figure seemed especially emaciated outside the school gate in the winter cold.

常意初是衡阳县栾木村希望小学的校长。他回忆，十几年前，黄奶奶的儿子蒋仕华因病拮据，两次共借150元用于生计。

Chang Yichu is the Headmaster of the Luanmu Village Hope Primary School in Hengyang County. He recalled that over a decade ago, her son Jiang Shihua was struggling financially due to illness and borrowed 150 yuan by 2 times to get by.

随着病情加重，蒋仕华最终还是没能好起来。儿子因哮喘离世后，老人最惦记的是那个欠款记账本，上面密密麻麻记着36笔借款，总计1万7千余元。

As his illness worsened, Jiang Shihua didn't get recovered.After her son passed away from asthma, what weighed most on Grandma Huang's mind was that debt ledger -- filled with 36 loans, totaling over 17,000 yuan.

老人每取一次低保就还几百块。“借钱的脸面，还钱的信任。那是别人的血汗钱。”她说。

She repay a few hundred each time I received my allowanc. ''Borrowing is about dignity; repaying is about trust. That's their hard-earned money,'' says Huang.

黄奶奶“替子还债”的故事，经报道后，像一块石头投入平静的湖面，荡开了层层温暖的涟漪。这份“一诺千金”的坚守终于等到了“八方而来”的回响。

When Grandma Huang's story of repaying her son's debts was reported, it was like a stone dropped into still water—sending out warm ripples far and wide. Her steadfast commitment finally received an outpouring of support from all nationwide.

距离第一条视频爆火已经过去一个月了，今天我们来到黄奶奶的住处，看看她的生活发生了哪些变化。

It has been a month since the first video went viral. Today, we're visiting Grandma Huang's home to see how her life has changed.

我们跟着黄奶奶下地收菜，她走在田埂上，脚步利落，把我们都甩在身后。如果不是事先知道，很难看出她的眼睛患有白内障，看什么都蒙着一层雾。可即便如此，家里的鸡鸭、灶台的锅碗、卧病老伴的三餐……在她的打理下，一切都井井有条。

We follow Grandma Huang to harvest vegetables. Walking briskly along the fields and ridges, she moved faster than any of us. If we haven't known, it would be hard to tell she has cataracts—seeing everything through a haze. Yet despite that, she keeps everything at home in perfect order: the chickens and ducks, pots and pans, meals for her bedridden husband—all well taken care of.

傍晚，暮色四合。黄奶奶来到儿子的墓地。她细数着这一个多月来的变化，诉说着每一份恩情：陌生人的善意，志愿者的奔波，社会的托举……

As dusk settled in the evening, Grandma Huang visited her son's grave. She went through the changes of the past month, recalling every kindness—the warmth of strangers, the efforts of volunteers, the support from society…

经过一天的陪伴，我们看到，汇聚而来的善款，不仅覆盖了所有债务，还帮助黄奶奶的老屋得到了修缮。更难能可贵地，相比一个月前报道中的迷惘和局促不安，老人的眼里有了光，嘴角有了笑容。

After spending the day with her, we saw that the donations not only cleared all the debts but also helped repair her old house. What's even more precious is that, compared to the confusion and unease she showed in past month coverage, now her eyes shining with happiness smile.

这场万千陌生人的“爱心接力”化身“希望”，温暖着黄奶奶的冬天。而这份温暖也将继续传递下去。

This wave of kindness from strangers has become a beacon of hope, warming Grandma Huang's winter. And we believe, this warmth will keep spreading.
