1986年长沙县南圫乡大塘遗址出土

With a remaining height of 9.2cm, this jar has rolling lips, a straight mouth, a bulging belly and two symmetrical ears along the neck. It is made from yellowish white pottery and painted with two layers of white and brown color. Ripple pattern and plant pattern spread in sequence from the mouth to the neck. Its ears are decorated with trellis pattern and floral pattern while the belly is painted with four groups of patterns with phoenix raising its head and holding grain leaves in its mouth.

陶罐残高9.2厘米,卷唇,直口,鼓腹,颈肩处饰对称双穿耳。夹砂黄白陶,器表施白色陶衣,上施褐色彩绘。口至颈肩部依次彩绘水波纹、植物纹;耳部彩绘方格纹和花瓣纹;腹部彩绘四组凤鸟树冠纹,凤鸟高冠长尾,昂首朝阳,嘴衔叶穗。彩绘图案构思奇巧,线条流畅,富于写实,反映了长沙先民丰富的想象力和高超的艺术水平。 

The decorative patterns are creative in designs, fluent in lines and the inspiration comes from daily life, which reflects the creativity and high craftsmanship of ancient Changsha people. It is estimated to be a ritual object for sacrificial ceremonies or a sacrificial utensil used only by the leader due to its materials and fine workmanship.

这件彩陶罐用材讲究,制作精美,表明它和其他陶器的实用功能不同,很可能是从事宗教仪式时祭司或首领专用的祭器。


Bronze Nao with elephant pattern

象纹大铜铙

Shang Dynasty (17th century B.C.- 11th century B.C.)

Excavated from Yueshanpu, Ningxiang County, 1983

1983年宁乡县月山铺乡转耳仑出土

This Nao is brownish green, 103.5 cm in height, 221.5 kg in weight. The Zheng is decorated with animal mask motif, and the right and left sides are symmetrical.The two eyes on the animal mask motif are carved in half-relief design and decorated with cloud and thunder pattern and slightly protruded. The Sui is decorated with a pair of standing elephants in low relief. The cloud and thunder pattern scatters on the Yong and the fringe of Zheng. 

通高103.5厘米,重221.5千克。器身呈褐绿色,钲部作合瓦形,上宽下窄,甬呈圆管状,与钲腔相通。钲面饰有以粗线条组成的兽面纹,左右两侧对称,半浮雕两眼略微凸出,上刻云雷纹。燧部浅浮雕一对相向站立的大象。

It looks magnificent and is the largest bronze Nao of Shang Dynasty unearthed in China so far.

形体高大,气势恢宏,是迄今为止我国发现的商代铜铙中最大的一件。

双面透雕龙凤纹玉环

西汉(公元前202—公元9年)

Excavated from Xianjiahu, Changsha City, 1975

1975长沙市咸嘉湖陡壁山1号墓出土

This jade Huan is grayish white with yellow and black dots partially. Flying dragons are carved in openwork with cloud patterns around. The lines of the body of dragons and phoenixes are indistinct, which adds to its artistic charm.

青白色,局部有黄色、黑色沁。双面透雕曲缠盘绕变体飞龙,环周饰以流动飞卷的云气纹和凤鸟纹,给人以龙腾凤舞、云卷云舒之动感。

Its mature carving techniques, fluent lines and high craftsmanship represent the supreme handcraft technique in early Western Han Dynasty.

龙凤身躯上以浅浮雕随形琢出隐约的线条,更加增强了整器的艺术效果。该环雕琢刀法娴熟圆润,线条舒展流畅,构思巧妙,制作精美,反映了西汉前期高超的玉雕技艺。

Excavated from Xianjiahu, Changsha City, 1975

1975年长沙市咸嘉湖陡壁山1号墓出土

The blue glazed ring is translucent and has no designs on it. The brown spots on the surface, a contrast to the navy blue ground, make the whole ring distinguished and mysterious.

玻璃质地,透光,素面无纹,表面有黑褐色自然斑块,与自身的深蓝色相映衬,更显高贵神秘。

Tang Dynasty (618 A.D.- 907 A.D.)

唐(公元618—公元907年)

Excavated from Shutang Town, Wangcheng District, 1978

1978年望城区书堂乡廖家坡出土

This porcelain pot has round lips, a shallow belly and a low ring foot. The round center is exposed with a poem written by Liu Zhangqing in Tang Dynasty “The birds are flying in flat and vast plain from far to near.People are just wandering along with running water.The cloud is thousand of miles away. The moon is reflected in the stream.” 

圆唇,浅腹折收,矮圈足。盘心作圆形露胎,以褐彩楷书“鸟飞平无近远,人随流水东西。白云千里万里,明月前溪后溪”四句诗文。

It is one of the porcelains with poems of Changsha Kiln in Tang Dynasty.

原诗为唐代诗人刘长卿所作《苕溪梁耿别后见寄》。长沙窑瓷器上题写的诗歌部分为唐代著名诗人的作品,此为其中之一。
